An overview of the changes
Why licensing is changing, changes for licence holders, employers, training and assessment providers
Changes to existing paper-based certificates
If you still hold the 'old style' paper-based certificates issued in Queensland before March 1992, that have not been replaced with a plastic certificate, and wish to continue to hold your current certification to perform that type of work, then you need to apply to Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. Until you do so, you are NOT licensed to work in those occupations.
Changes to obtaining new licences
From 1 July 2007 training and assessment for high risk work licences and earthmoving or particular crane certificates can only be delivered by Registered Training Organisations. Additionally, from 1 July 2008, there are substantial changes to the way you need to apply for your new licence.
Changes to training and assessment requirements
From 1 July 2007 there are new requirements for Registered Training Organisations and the delivery of training and assessment for prescribed occupation licences.
