Seven new industry action plans have been developed to support the second stage of the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Strategy 2004-12, which aims to reduce the incidence of work-related injuries by 40 per cent and fatalities by 20 per cent by June 2012.
The action plans below, developed in consultation with industry stakeholders, focus on working closely with employers and employees, other government departments, and the community to manage risks in the workplace and to develop practical industry-wide solutions.
Across the seven industry sectors, there are 34 projects that will be implemented. The plans focus on improving health and safety performance by placing a strong emphasis on initiatives to reduce the incidence of musculoskeletal disorders across all industry sectors.
In a complex, dynamic and challenging industrial environment, we aim to build a Queensland workplace culture that sees health and safety as an integral part of normal business operations.
