Installing ceiling insulation – health and safety information

On 15 October 2009, Queensland’s Electrical Safety Office issued a safety alert in response to a fatality and a serious injury in Brisbane associated with the installation of ceiling insulation.  The safety alert highlighted the serious risks of foil insulation coming into contact with electricity and the need to manage these and other risks associated with installing ceiling insulation.

On 1 November 2009 the Electrical Safety (Installation of Ceiling Insulation) Notice 2009 (PDF 194 KB) took effect which mandates new electrical safety measures for Queensland insulation installers.
